Just Jazz

Friday 9:00pm-11:00pm

Playlist

“Jazz is always energetic, always renewing,” says host Duane Lee.

On “Just Jazz,” Lee plays two hours of straight-ahead jazz. He shares songs from his personal collection and the extensive library at Prairie Public’s Bismarck station. His playlists draw from classic recordings by jazz pianist Gene Harris and jazz trumpeter Freddie Hubbard to new releases from young musicians such as jazz
bassists/vocalists Esperanza Spalding and Kristin Korb.

Lee’s favorite jazz vocalists include Chris Connor, Johnny Hartman, Ernestine Anderson, and groups such as New York Voices.

If Lee weren’t so busy hosting Just Jazz and classical programming on weekdays, he would happily spend his time at jazz festivals in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.
