Funding the Future

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a great option for those who have cash or appreciated assets, want to make a gift to Prairie Public Broadcasting, but need income during their lives.

It is a contract between you and Prairie in which, in return for a contribution of funds or assets, we pay you an annuity during your lifetime and that of a spouse or other beneficiary.

There are many tax advantages to this approach. A portion of your annuity is tax-free. You also receive an income tax deduction for a portion of your gift. And if you fund your contribution to Prairie Public Broadcasting with appreciated assets, such as stock you’ve held for a long time, you avoid capital gains.

Charitable annuities are available to those 60 years of age and over and require a minimum gift of $10,000. The amount of your annuity and the tax benefits associated with it depend on your age and other factors. Contact us for an illustration based on your specific circumstances.
