FARGO, N.D. — Prairie Public is hosting a State of the Station event on Thursday, October 2, at the Sanctuary Events Center in Fargo. PBS President Paula Kerger will join Prairie Public President and CEO John Harris to talk with supporters about the future of public media.

Congress recently voted to eliminate federal funding for public media, and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting – which provided about 20% of Prairie Public’s annual budget – will phase out over the next few months.

“Our members are passionate about Prairie Public, and we know they’re wondering what it might look like once federal funding is gone. This event gives us the opportunity to speak candidly with our supporters,” Harris said.

“We’re looking forward to hosting Paula Kerger, the longest-serving President in PBS history, and hearing her expert insight about the road ahead for public media,” he said.

Tickets for the event are $15 for general admission or $50 for reserved seating, and can be purchased at prairiepublic.org/state. Audience members can submit questions for Paula Kerger or Prairie Public leadership upon purchasing a ticket.
