A Prairie Public original production has been honored with an Upper Midwest Emmy® award, which recognizes excellence in television and is dedicated to advancing the art and science of television.
The 30-minute documentary titled “It’s Never Left Me” won an Emmy® award in the category of Military - Short or Long Form Content. The documentary shares first-hand stories from veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, their experiences with PTSD, and their readjustment to civilian life.
The documentary was produced by Matt Olien and edited by Mary Balstad.
“This award is a testament to our team’s hard work and dedication to Prairie Public’s mission,” said Director of Television Barbara Gravel. “We’re grateful to be recognized at this level for highlighting the effects of military combat, and the services available to veterans in our region.”
"It's Never Left Me" can be viewed on Prairie Public’s YouTube channel and on the PBS app.
Funding for the film was provided by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, and the members of Prairie Public.
