At Prairie Public’s recent "State of the Station" event in Fargo, Becca Baumbach, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Grand Forks, East Grand Forks & Region, presented the organization with a $30,000 check from the Knight Foundation.
Prairie Public President & CEO John Harris accepted the check alongside the event’s keynote speaker, PBS President & CEO Paula Kerger.
The Knight Foundation donation was offered as a matching challenge to inspire community support for Prairie Public. Viewers and listeners quickly met the goal, contributing $33,811 in just one day.
“We’re deeply grateful to the Knight Foundation for their generous support, and to our members for answering the call,” said John Harris, Prairie Public President & CEO. “This match showed how our community can work together to strengthen the future of public media in our region.”
The Knight Foundation supports journalism, the arts, and communities where the Knight brothers once published newspapers, including Grand Forks. The Foundation’s investment helps ensure that local journalism and educational media continue to thrive in the digital age.
