Public media is facing an unprecedented threat that could severely impact Prairie Public's ability to serve our region.

Prairie Public has served North Dakota for more than 60 years – providing free educational services to schools and families, producing one-of-a-kind historical and cultural documentaries that tell the story of our region, and offering in-depth news coverage to keep our communities informed.

North Dakotans and Minnesotans rely on these essential, community-based services. Learn about how you can take action at ProtectMyPublicMedia.org

Why you should support federal funding for Prairie Public

Prairie Public is a vital resource for North Dakotans and Minnesotans.

Prairie Public is a free and over-the-air service, and essential for those in rural areas who may have limited access to other sources of news and information.

Prairie Public preserves local history and culture.

Through thoughtful storytelling, Prairie Public produces documentaries, short features, and news coverage on the people, places, and events that shape our state.

Our original documentaries help tell North Dakota's story. Our award-winning series on the Germans From Russia highlights the group's unique foodways, history, and culture. The original documentary Basketball, Water and the Lost CIty of Elbowoods shares the meaningful story of the town's 1942 high school basketball team.

Our short features on Prairie Mosaic include a celebration of the International Peace Gardens, a look at Scandinavian folk art, and visit the Three Affiliated Tribes Museum in New Town.

Prairie Public provides free educational content for schools and families.

Prairie Public provides free educational tools for educators, including our new Prairie Public Learning Express mobile trailer, which has brought hands-on learning materials to schools, libraries, and homeschool groups across the state.

Prairie Public strengthens our democracy.

Prairie Public's news coverage helps all North Dakotans participate in the political process as informed citizens.

Our Face To Face candidate debates provide a platform for North Dakota Senate, House, and Governor candidates to answer policy questions in the lead-up to an election.

Our weekly newsletter D'Ya NoDak allows our news director Dave Thompson to give historical context and additional explanation beyond the headlines.

Our new podcast In Session and the long-running program North Dakota Legislative Review help listeners follow the North Dakota legislative session.

Prairie Public makes communities safer.

Public television, through PBS WARN, provides the only nationwide situational awareness tool used for public safety officials to track and monitor the effectiveness of those alerts.

Prairie Public helps prepare children for success in school.

Prairie Public is North Dakota's source for PBS KIDS, whose early educational content is rigorously researched, tested, and proven to help children learn.
