Prairie Public is making several changes to its Saturday night radio schedule beginning September 19, including the addition of NPR’s Tiny Desk Radio and an expanded time slot for Prebys on Jazz.
NPR’s Tiny Desk Radio will join the lineup at 7 p.m. Saturdays. The hour-long program features performances, interviews, and behind-the-scenes stories from NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series, bringing a mix of music and storytelling to radio listeners.
Following Tiny Desk Radio, Prebys on Jazz, hosted by Prairie Public’s Scott Prebys, will move from 7 to 8 p.m. and expand from one hour to two. The program showcases jazz from across the genre, with Prebys sharing his knowledge and passion for music.
Saturday Evening Blues Cruise, hosted by Prairie Public’s Mike Olson, will retire on the statewide radio network. The program will continue on Prairie Public’s Roots, Rock, and Jazz stream (FM2), which is available online as well as over-the-air in Grand Forks and Williston.
"Hosting 'Saturday Evening Blues Cruise' has been a real joy for the last 22 years,” Olson said. “I’m looking forward to continuing to share the blues, roots, rock, and jazz with Prairie Public listeners every weekday on 'Into the Music.’ Be sure to tune in!”
The schedule changes will also affect several other programs. Dimensions in Jazz will move to Fridays at 11 p.m., while DreamFarm Radio will move to Sundays at midnight. Jazz After Hours will continue its Saturday morning schedule from midnight to 5 a.m. but will be reduced by one hour on Sundays, airing from 1 to 5 a.m.
