Fargo, N.D., December 20, 2023 — Prairie Public is debuting a new season of their original production Prairie Musicians to focus the spotlight on regional talent—ten singer/songwriters and bands recorded live in Prairie Public’s downtown Fargo studio. Thirty-minute sets premiere at 9 p.m. on Thursdays beginning January 25 and will be available to view on the PBS App and on Prairie Public’s YouTube channel.
“The diversity of musical genres and exceptional talent on Prairie Musicians this season is a true testament to the amazing artists living in our region,” said Barbara Gravel, Prairie Public’s interim Director of Television.
January 25 at 9 p.m.
The Dan Brekke Band, Moorhead, Minn.
Dan Brekke found his passion for music at a young age, and throughout his career he’s had the good fortune to create music with his family, perform in Nashville for three years, and travel the Midwest sharing his gift of music and making people laugh.
February 1 at 9 p.m.
Annabelle Maher, West Fargo, N.D.
Annabelle Maher is a dedicated, hardworking singer/songwriter who weaves her own life experiences into her storytelling lyrics. She travels between Nashville and North Dakota to record music and performs everywhere in between.

Dakota Pro Musica, Bismarck, N.D.
Dakota Pro Musica is a professional chorale ensemble made up of musicians from across North Dakota. They perform a repertoire of well-known classics that are sure to please.

The International Treasures, Bemidji, Minn. & Watertown, Minn.
The International Treasures are the duo of Doyle Turner and Ted Hajnasiewicz, whose charismatic storytelling, sweet harmonies, and transcendent songs about the universal human condition are both entertaining and endearing. Active performers as solo artists and involved in various musical projects, Ted and Doyle are real-life ‘treasures.’

Patty Kakac, Evansville, Minn.
Patty Kakac was influenced as a young musician by folk music in the 1960s. She’s been performing throughout Minnesota and the upper Midwest for over 40 years with her own brand of original tunes as well as gospel and country classics.

Poitin, Moorhead, Minn.
Poitin is a group of talented and vibrant musicians who explore the correlations between Irish and Metis Red River traditional music, including ballads and dance tunes accompanied by classic Irish instrumentation.

Samantha Grimes, Roseville, Minn.
Samantha Grimes brings her mesmerizing voice and quick-witted lyrics to the stage along with her left-handed and upside-down guitar playing. Her original music reaches back to some of her favorites from throughout her career.

EshkodeUX, Detroit Lakes, Minn.
EshkodeUX is an ensemble made up of friends and musicians from northwest Minnesota—Awenaaabe Syverson, Naabek Liberty, and Bridget Guiza. Their music reflects the collaboration of their talents and heritage.

Skarlett Woods, Brainerd, Minn.
Skarlett Woods performs a tapestry of Americana, jazz, and rock ‘n’ roll music, and her eclectic lyrics stem from her years of life and travel experiences.

Slamabama, Moorhead, Minn.
Slamabama is a high energy country/pop band who travel the country to share their love of music. The band members’ talents will invite you to the show, but their big hearts, genuine camaraderie, and southern hospitality will ensure you have a great experience.
