Prairie Public says goodbye to The Great American Folk Show

After six years on the air, The Great American Folk Show will conclude its run on Prairie Public’s radio service. The final episode will air Saturday, August 29.

Hosted by Tom Brosseau, The Great American Folk Show has shared conversations and performances from musicians, artists, authors, and storytellers from across the country. Brosseau also took the show on the road, traveling to rural communities across North Dakota with the special series Dakota Diners and Throwing Rocks: The Curling Clubs of North Dakota.

"Thank you for welcoming me into your Saturday evenings,” said Brosseau, in a recent Facebook post. “Thank you to every listener, guest, sponsor, and friend who made [The Great American Folk Show] what it became."

"Tom's relaxed style and ‘North Dakota Nice’ will always be what listeners felt the most when they tuned in,” said producer Erik Deatherage. “I will miss working closely with him on developing and producing the program – it's been one of the highlights of my radio career."

Listeners can hear the final episode of The Great American Folk Show on Saturday, August 29, at 5pm, on Prairie Public’s radio service.
