Prairie Public Education Services is excited to announce two new professional development opportunities for educators: Consuming Media with Prairie Public and Creating Media with Prairie Public.
These fully online, self-paced courses are designed with busy teachers in mind—offering flexible, meaningful learning with no deadlines, tests, or quizzes. Each course is free and provides 5 clock hours upon completion.
Funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, both courses introduce educators to rich, standards-aligned media resources available through PBS LearningMedia, with a focus on Minnesota Legacy-funded content. Participants will explore best practices in media literacy instruction and design classroom-ready lessons that help students critically engage with and create high-quality media.

Creating Media with Prairie Public
5 Clock Hours | Free for Educators
Support students in becoming responsible and creative media producers. This course focuses on storytelling, visual literacy, and ethical media use, and includes tools and inspiration from PBS and Minnesota Legacy-funded content. Educators will walk away with a practical lesson or project plan to implement in their own classrooms.
Bundle Option:
Educators are encouraged to take one or both courses. Each offers 5 clock hours and is completely free. Together, the courses provide a well-rounded foundation in both consuming and creating media.
