Prairie Public has received an award from the 58th annual Public Media Awards, hosted by the National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA).
Prairie Public’s event, State of the Station: The Road Ahead for Prairie Public, received an award in the Special Events category. Held on October 2, 2025, in Fargo, the event welcomed PBS President Paula Kerger as the keynote speaker, and focused on the future of public media in the wake of federal funding cuts.
Along with a sell-out attendance of 250 community members, the event also generated significant community support. The Knight Foundation announced a $30,000 matching gift at the event, which was fully met by the following day. Supporters also contributed an additional $25,000 through the event’s online giving page, followed by a commitment for a six-figure gift soon afterward.
NETA’s Public Media Awards recognize the exceptional achievements of member stations in community engagement, content, education, and marketing and communications, and are judged by a group of expert panelists from within the public media system, as well as industry professionals working outside of public media.
Awards were announced on September 13 at the Public Media Awards Gala in New Orleans.
