Prairie Public to host special evening with NPR’s Steve Inskeep

Prairie Public invites the community to a special evening featuring Steve Inskeep, co-host of NPR’s Morning Edition and Up First.

Inskeep will travel to North Dakota as part of NPR’s “America In Pursuit” initiative, a historical exploration of life, liberty, and happiness over the last 250 years. The evening will feature a live conversation between Inskeep and Robbie Lauf, Executive Director of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, which is set to open July 4 in Medora.

The discussion will explore the upcoming opening of the Presidential Library, the history of Theodore Roosevelt and his connection to North Dakota, and how those stories relate to current events and modern American life. The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A and door prizes.

The event begins with a social hour featuring heavy appetizers, dessert, drinks, and live music from Scott Prebys and Friends before guests move upstairs for the theatre-style program.

Event Schedule
5:45 p.m. – Doors Open / Heavy Appetizers & Social Hour
7:00 p.m. – Program Begins
8:00 p.m. – Event Concludes

Tickets are $35 per person, include heavy appetizers, dessert, and a drink ticket.

About Steve Inskeep
Steve Inskeep is one of public radio’s most recognized journalists, serving as co-host of NPR’s Morning Edition and the daily news podcast Up First. Since joining NPR in 1996, he has reported from around the world, covering major events including wars in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan, while also telling stories from communities across America. Inskeep is the author of several acclaimed books, including Instant City and Jacksonland.

About Robbie Lauf
Robbie Lauf, a North Dakota native, has held leadership roles in both the public and private sectors, including serving as a senior advisor to former Governor Doug Burgum, working in the office of Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, and consulting at McKinsey & Company. Lauf is a Truman Scholar and graduate of Harvard Kennedy School and serves on the boards of the North Dakota Economic Development Foundation and the North Dakota News Cooperative.

Event parking at North Dakota's Gateway to Science will be limited this summer as MDU Community Bowl undergoes construction.
 

Parking will be available in the following locations:

  • North Dakota's Gateway To Science parking lot
  • Street parking on the east side of Canary Avenue
  • Small parking lot south of the MDU Community Bowl lot
