A Prairie Public Original Documentary
Born to German-Russian immigrant parents, Lawrence Welk built a strong work ethic and love for music growing up on the family farmstead in Strasburg, North Dakota. Today, he’s known for creating the iconic The Lawrence Welk Show, which still airs on public television stations around the country.
Lawrence Welk: A North Dakota Farm Boy looks at Welk’s life and legacy through archive footage and interviews with people who knew him well – including his daughter, nieces, secretary, and Lawrence Welk Show cast members.

Human Footprint visits North Dakota
Earth has never experienced anything like us: a single species dominating and transforming the planet. Biologist Shane Campbell-Staton travels the globe to explore our Human Footprint and to discover how the things we do reveal who we truly are.
In this season's fourth episode, Shane witnesses the annual migration of a 4th-generation commercial beekeeper (John Miller of Miller Honey Farms inGackle, North Dakota), who trucks half a billion honeybees across the country each year to keep our food system running.
